International Happiness Day 2023

As a personal trainer based in the Cotswolds, I always strive to help my clients live happier, healthier lives. So when I was asked by several media outlets to share my top tips for living a happy life on International Happiness Day 2023, I was more than happy to oblige.

Here are my tips for finding happiness in everyday life:

  1. Stay active: Exercise is a proven mood booster, so move your body regularly. Whether that means hitting the gym, running, or simply taking a brisk walk, find a physical activity you enjoy and make it a regular part of your routine.

  2. Prioritise self-care: Self-care is crucial for physical and mental health. This can mean getting enough sleep, eating nutritious foods, and indulging in a relaxing bath or massage.

  3. Connect with others: Human connection is fundamental to happiness, so try cultivating meaningful relationships. This can be as simple as scheduling regular coffee dates with friends or volunteering in your local community.

  4. Practice gratitude: Reflecting on what you're grateful for each day can help shift your focus from negative to positive. Whether you keep a gratitude journal or make a mental list, remember to recognise and appreciate the good things in your life.

  5. Find purpose: Having a sense of purpose can give your life meaning and fulfilment. Whether you find purpose through your work, hobbies, or volunteer activities, prioritise the things that give you a sense of purpose and meaning.
